Everybody Reads is a reading and book gifting program run entirely by volunteers since early 2001. The Tzu Chi Foundation has generously funded our new book purchases since the beginning of our program. Anonymous donors have funded program operations and the purchase of new books since 2010 to supplement those funded by Tzu Chi. Everybody Reads volunteers read to elementary school students and give each student a new book of their choice. I run Everybody Reads with the invaluable assistance of fellow Everybody Reads volunteers and in close coordination with members of the Tzu Chi Foundation. Chief among my fellow Everybody Reads volunteers is my wife, Vivian, who has been with Everybody Reads since its inception.
With the enthusiastic support of the school's administration and school staff members who volunteer with us, the Everybody Reads program at Noble Elementary School in North Hills, CA has been in continuous operation since early 2001. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, we successfully completed 8 programs during the 2017-2018 school year (September 16th, October 21st, November 4th, January 20th, February 10th, March 17th, April 21st, and May 19th). In coordination with Noble Elementary School and the Tzu Chi Foundation, we are working through some new requirements imposed by LAUSD and have NOT secured permission to continue at Noble Elementary School for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
